Infant massage can be a beautiful way to bond with your baby while supporting their physical comfort and emotional well-being. To help you make the most of your massage appointment, here are some helpful tips to ensure both you and your little one feel calm, prepared, and ready for a positive experience.
1. Time Your Appointment Around Baby’s Natural Rhythm
Choose a time of day when your baby is typically alert, calm, and not overly tired or hungry. Mid-morning or early afternoon often works best for many families, but trust your own routine—no one knows your baby better than you. If your baby tends to nap after a certain time or gets fussy in the evening, try to avoid booking during those windows.
2. Feed Before You Arrive
Feeding your baby about 20–30 minutes before your appointment is ideal. A full tummy can help your baby feel more content and relaxed during the massage. Of course, if your baby gets hungry again during the session, you’re welcome to pause and feed. The environment is completely baby-led and stress-free.
3. Bring the Essentials
Babies can be unpredictable! Be sure to pack:
- A few extra diapers and wipes
- An extra outfit (or two) in case of a blowout
- A favorite blanket or small comfort item
- A pacifier if your baby uses one
Having these on hand means you’re prepared for any little surprises.
4. Expect a Warm, Calm Environment
We’ll have the room comfortably warm and the lights dimmed to reduce sensory stimulation. The space is intentionally calm, quiet, and baby-friendly—no harsh lights or loud noises. We use soft linens and gentle music (or silence, if you prefer) to help both of you feel at ease.
5. You’re Part of the Experience
Parents and caregivers stay in the room the entire time, often participating in the massage or simply providing comfort and support. You’re welcome to talk, cuddle, or pick up your baby if they get fussy or need a break. There’s no pressure to “complete” the massage—it’s all about reading your baby’s cues and moving at their pace.
6. This is a Judgment-Free Zone
If your baby cries, squirms, poops, or just isn’t having it—that’s completely okay. We understand that babies have their own timelines and needs, and we’re here to meet them with flexibility, not expectations. Sessions can be paused, shortened, or adapted in real time.
7. Post-Massage Expectations
Some babies may nap soundly after their massage, while others may be a bit more alert and stimulated. Both responses are normal! You may notice improved digestion, better sleep, or even just a calmer demeanor for the rest of the day. Follow your baby’s lead, and give them lots of snuggles afterward.
Infant massage isn’t just about technique—it’s about connection. We’re here to guide you through it, making sure you feel confident and supported every step of the way.
